Where the Highlands Come Alive
A highland sanctuary reborn at the foot of Scotland's most iconic peak.
Perched at the meeting point of Glencoe and Rannoch Moor, Kingshouse Hotel is one of Scotland's most storied addresses, reborn with a confidence and clarity that feels entirely right for its dramatic setting. The recent redevelopment has woven together a warmly considered Modern Scots aesthetic with clean Scandinavian lines, creating interiors that echo the elemental landscape beyond the glass — all pale timber, natural textures, and the kind of considered simplicity that lets the mountains do the talking. And what mountains they are: the iconic form of Buachaille Etive Mor dominates the horizon with theatrical authority, never more magnificent than at dawn or dusk when the light turns the glen to copper and gold.
The Signature Suites are the jewel in Kingshouse's crown, each opening onto a private terrace where the Highland air arrives clean and cold and utterly intoxicating. These are rooms designed not merely for sleeping but for witnessing — a front-row seat to one of the most breathtaking landscapes the British Isles has to offer. Practical mountain souls will also appreciate the thoughtfully equipped drying room, a quiet acknowledgment that this hotel genuinely understands its guests: hikers, Munro-baggers, and wild-hearted explorers who arrive wet-booted and leave entirely renewed.
Kingshouse occupies that rare category of place where location and design exist in genuine harmony. It is not trying to compete with the scenery — it is in quiet conversation with it. For those who love Scotland in its most elemental and uncompromising form, this is not simply a place to stay; it is a destination unto itself.

What They Say
“We got married at Kingshouse in December and couldn't have asked for a better experience. The day from start to finish was perfect. Thank you so much to Lee who coordinated the day. Nothing was too big of an ask and Lee went above and beyond to make sure we had a perfect day. A special thanks to the amazing and incredibly helpful Gemah who supported us in planning our day from start to finish. Everything about our day was fantastic, the staff were friendly, the food was amazing and the views were just stunning. The perfect venue for your special day. Looking forward to returning next year to celebrate our anniversary. Would recommend Kingshouse hotel to anyone getting married in future.”
“We have just returned from a 3 day New Year Celebration at The King House Hotel. What a fabulous time we all had. From arrival to leaving the service was absolutely outstanding with and every staff member playing their part in making this a wonderful trip. The food over the three days was incredible. It was high quality, beautifully presented and delicious. Our rooms were spacious and comfortable and the hotel has stunning views throughout. The hotel had great wheelchair access allowing my brother in law to fully participate in the many New Year activities organised by the staff including whisky tasting, cookery demonstration and quiz. Before leaving we got to see the beautiful stags who had wandered into the car park. We were even sent on our way with a little goody bag to keep the hunger at bay! Can’t wait to return many thanks to the manager who was always at hand and of course all the staff for a wonderful experience. I could not recommend this hotel (and especially the New Year Event) highly enough. Esme Cochrane”
“We booked the New Year’s package at the Kingshouse Hotel, which had the potential to be a memorable and special experience given the scenic location. However, the New Year’s Eve gala dinner fell short in creating a true sense of occasion. With guests from all over the world in attendance, many were expecting a distinctly Scottish experience. For a venue like the Kingshouse Hotel, a piper piping guests into dinner and again at midnight would have added greatly to the atmosphere and sense of tradition. The evening felt disorganised at times. Wine that we had ordered in advance was not on our table on arrival, unlike other tables, which detracted from the experience and disrupted the flow of the evening. The music throughout the night was disappointing and failed to create a lively, celebratory mood, and the absence of fireworks or a similar focal moment at midnight was noticeable. Given that many guests did not know each other, stronger hosting or guidance to help bring the room together would have improved the overall atmosphere. On a positive note, the food was first class and a real highlight of the evening. The staff were excellent throughout our stay — attentive, professional, and a true credit to the hotel. We also met some lovely people, and overall the experience was good. In terms of value for money, we understand and accept that a premium is paid for the package and time of year. However, the rooms would benefit from an upgrade, as they felt quite basic. The lighting was poor, the television was not working, and the single beds pushed together created an uncomfortable ridge in the middle, which detracted from the experience and did not reflect the premium price point.”
“Stayed on Friday 30/1/26. The restaurant food was excellent and good value for money! The staff made such an effort for my partner's birthday with a few special touches. Extra shout-out to Kai and the rest of the team for their attentive service through dinner. A relaxing atmosphere throughout. Cheers team!.”
“Officiating a wedding a few days ago I found the staff very friendly, welcoming & very attentive. This is the first wedding venue I have worked in(and I have done a fair few) that offered me a tea while waiting on the bridal party & was told hubby, who had dog with him, was more than welcome to come in with our dog and sit in the reception area if he wanted. Staff were excellent in preparation & throughout wedding & were quick off the mark in moving chairs and things when plans were changed to an outside rather than inside wedding. Its a relaxed, stunning venue making folk feel at home that I saw.”
