Where Scotland Meets the Sea
Log fires, loch views and the soft pull of the Argyll coast.
Perched on the romantic Argyll coastline, Loch Melfort Hotel is the kind of place that makes you wonder why you ever bothered with a passport. Set within 17 acres of gardens and private beach, this award-winning West Coast retreat earns its keep through sheer, unhurried charm — sea views that stretch to the horizon, log fires that crackle with quiet authority, and the kind of coastal scenery that renders a to-do list utterly redundant. It is, in the truest sense, a restorative escape.

What They Say
“We arrived at the hotel a couple of days after Storm Amy had paid a visit. The lovely receptionist told us that they had not had any power for 3 days. They had a generator in the kitchen so were able to cook but no power any where else but hot water in rooms. She offered us the choice to not stay but we chose to stay. She gave us a torch to use around the hotel. We went into the lounge where the fire was roaring. We had a lovely cream tea, scones were amazing. Our room was beautiful with amazing views. I had a bath by torch light! When we arrived for dinner the restaurant was lite by candles. Service was excellent and the food did not disappoint. Breakfast was cooked well. They filled our flasks with hot water for our journey. The team were amazing under such challenging circumstances. The room was cosy and clean with wonderful toiletries. We will definitely return.”
“Great location and close to Crobh Haven, Ardfern and only a 20 mile drive to Oban. Arduine Gardens are right by the hotel. We stayed in a dig friendly room in the ‘new’ wing with direct access to the grounds. Only issue was that there was some maintenance work on the water filtration system which meant that the water was very discoloured (peaty) however they supplied plenty of bottled water for drinking. Staff were first class and couldn’t do enough for you and food was good, excellent breakfast!”
“Beautiful views of the hebrides, highland cows and goats add to thecscene, a rocky beach....oh yes, the place! Cozy, balcony or patio; this is a place to stay for a few days as your highland HQ near Oban, or to visit the Isle of Skye, or Islay, or a nearby distillery. On-site restaurant/bar offering a relaxing setting and attentive staff. A wonderful place to stay and recharge and a little gift shop with special souvenirs.”
“Such a beautiful hotel on the ocean with a view of islands, excellent customer service from the lovely servers & the comfiest beds! I also love the decor, cows & goats and you have garden access. Great vegan food too thank you!”
“Probably my favorite stop for the most AMAZING scone and clotted cream, phenomenal sticky toffee pudding, delicious latte. And the coziest most perfect environment. Loved this place.”
