What they say
“We don't live too far from Blanchland and often pop into The Lord Crew Arms for a shandy in the beautiful beer garden, after a long dog walk. We were extremely keen to stay overnight as the hotel is beautiful, full of historical charm and such friendly and attentive staff. We booked a mid-week stay and dine at very short notice and we were not disappointed. Our room was an upstairs garden room, a short walk through the garden and very private. Great for taking the dog out. It was extremely spacious, beautiful furnishings, sumptuous bath, great sized walk in shower, comfortable large bed, spotlessly clean and very tranquil. The treats, dog bed and poop bags were very thoughtful, and well worth the added extra pooch fee. Our evening meal was absolutely delicious and would recommend the halibut or the duck breast with pears. Everything was made fresh, with thought and care, so hats off to the chef. The breakfast was equally as tasty, with a variety of hot/cold options and freshly squeezed juice. The staff clearly care about their guests in ensuring they have a very enjoyable, pleasurable and memorable stay, which it definitely was. Would love to return and stay again and would recommend in a heartbeat. Thank you 😊”
“We did an overnight dinner bed and breakfast. The setting in a conservation village on the moors is very attractive. The historic hotel has been refurbished to a high standard in the last few years. The staff are uniformly friendly and welcoming. The place does a good job of not feeling overly corporate or pretentious. Only slightly discordant note was the rock music in the cellar bar. The sound of a Manchester club felt a bit odd when the setting called for Gregorian chant. The food was prepared to very high standard. It’s modern English and unfussy. For what it offers I’d suggest it’s good value. (We went in February though so out of season). I’d certainly go back.”
“Stayed here for a wedding anniversary and the most lovely time. The room was a champion room and was beautifully decorated with a roll top bath and large fire place in the bedroom. Everything we needed was at hand - we couldn’t have asked for more. We stayed for evening meal and again couldn’t fault the food which was delicious. Service was lovely , friendly and relaxed. Nothing was too much trouble. The same with breakfast which was plentiful. I would go back in a heartbeat and would recommend to anyone.”
“The Lord Crewe Arms is more than just a hotel or pub—it's an absolute destination. Set in the impossibly beautiful, historic village of Blanchland, stepping inside feels like entering a cozy, beautifully preserved piece of history. The atmosphere is unparalleled. Picture roaring log fires, stone walls, and a genuine, welcoming buzz from both locals and visitors. The staff were incredibly attentive, warm, and professional, making us feel instantly at home. It’s an unforgettable experience and easily one of the best inns we have ever visited. Highly, highly recommended! Cheers!”
“Overall an enjoyable stay. Friendly staff and excellent food. A comfortable room if a little on the small side and poor reading lamps. It came as a surprise that the bedrooms are accessed separately from outside which isn't too great in poor weather despite a never ending supply of umbrellas.”
