Reeth, North Yorkshire
Drink at Britain's Highest Pub
The Story
At 1,732 feet above sea level, the Tan Hill Inn is Britain's highest pub — and it has rooms. On the Pennine Way and the Coast to Coast path, it's a legendary stop for walkers. The atmosphere is wonderfully remote, the beer is well-kept, and winter storms add drama. In colder months the fireside atmosphere is half the appeal, while recent events programming and live music nights have given the old inn a little extra energy.
