“Didn't stay here but ate at the restaurant. A Truly exceptional evening. We consider ourselves foodies and love nothing more than good food in great venues. This passes with flying colours. The service was really brilliant, attentive , friendly staff from the door to the table and beyond. Everyone was great. The food is delicious, elevated farm to table vibes, starters were decent enough, but mains and beyond were where it excelled ,.with some outstanding gnocchi and steak. The decor is beautiful, the surround area and building gorgeous. Genuine one of my favourite hotel restaurants in the country. Make sure to try the croissant fritters with the van de constance desert wine for afters if they have it. Absolute chefs kiss to end a wonderful mean. And also if you can lounge in the library /lounge area after for a little tipple to send you on your way. Wonderful place we will for sure visit again one day”
“We ate here for an early valentines celebration on Thursday 12th Feb. we were so impressed with the service especially from Tom. He was incredibly attentive keeping our wine topped up without us even having to ask. He struck the perfect balance of being warm and friendly while still completely professional. Such genuinely great service — he really made our visit feel special. Thank you, Tom!”
“I had high hopes but left feeling disappointed and frankly robbed. I came with my partner for a birthday. The sitting room by the entrance is lovely with wooden floors and open fires, which was the kind of atmosphere I’d expected to eat in. Peaceful, homely and elegant. Instead we were taken to a cold orangery space that was crammed full of tables, that felt more like a family friendly pizzeria due to the early 00’s style floor tiles, which also didn’t help soak up any restaurant noise, making it very loud. Service was poor from the start. Drinks took 15 minutes to arrive and starters followed almost immediately, showing no sense of pacing. The brown crab on focaccia was let down by limp bread that should have been toasted. Mains then took 30 minutes and arrived at 9pm. Carrots were already sold out by 7.30pm on a Friday. My pork loin was so chewy I could not finish it. We skipped pudding due to inattentive service and I had to go to the counter to ask for the bill. £160 for two courses and non-alcoholic drinks only. What should have been a celebration left me feeling sad and disappointed.”
“This place was mad expensive for what was extremely mediocre food…I guess you’re paying for the location, and to be around wealthy people? The service was truly bizarre as well, he was a sweet lad but kept talking to us like we were seven years old “Wow! Look who’s polished those plates clean” - “Have you had a wonderful evening?!” All in all, an unintentionally funny but regrettably expensive evening.”
“Great experience - birthday treat for my wife. This THE PIG is out in the wilds near Brockenhurst. It's seen a lot of rain so we did not see much of the grounds and surrounding walks but the location looks superb. Our room was comfy, great bed and quality pillows. The bathroom was a treat to use, with lovely hot shower and huge bath tub. Service in the restaurant was first class - we enjoyed an evening meal and breakfast. We'd like to go back in late spring or early summer to explore more. Do check the room rates before you book as there can be quite large differences across the week and months.”
