Where the Peak District Breathes
A restored hall that wraps history, heart, and Derbyshire soul around you.
Tucked into the rolling Derbyshire countryside on the edge of the Peak District, Wildhive Callow Hall is the kind of discovery that feels almost too good to share. This beautifully restored country hall has been reimagined with a boutique sensibility that honours its storied past while embracing a thoroughly modern sense of comfort and character. Each room tells its own story, thoughtfully designed with individual flair that rewards the curious traveller who appreciates the details — a curated artwork here, an unexpected texture there.
The commitment to local sourcing runs deep at Callow Hall, with the kitchen drawing on the finest Derbyshire produce to craft menus that feel genuinely rooted in their landscape. It is the sort of cooking that makes you slow down and pay attention, which is precisely the spirit the whole property seems to encourage. The grounds invite long, aimless walks, and the interiors pull you back in just as readily with their warmth and quiet elegance.
For couples seeking an escape that feels both indulgent and intimately human in scale, Wildhive Callow Hall strikes a rare balance. It is neither ostentatious nor overly precious — simply a beautifully considered retreat that leaves you feeling genuinely restored, much like the hall itself.

What They Say
“We stayed in one of the large dog-friendly treehouses last week and it was absolutely perfect. Beautifully decorated and thoughtfully equipped with everything you could need, including a full kitchen. Treehouse guests can still enjoy breakfast and dinner in the restaurant in the main hotel, both were outstanding, featuring locally sourced ingredients cooked to perfection. What really sets Callow Hall apart, though, is the team. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and even after our stay, when there was a small mix up with the invoice, it was resolved quickly and professionally. Thank you to everyone at Callow Hall for making our stay so memorable - we’ll definitely be back!”
“Stayed in a Hive for the Husband’s birthday. Some lovely balloons and card on arrival. Hives are a lot smaller than they appear in photos, very compact and on the cosy side. Personally would book a room in Callow Hall if we were to stay again. The journey to the Hive in the buggy is not for the faint hearted. Sadly no hot tubs are included with the standard Hives. I assume only the family sized ones. The 100 acre shower products provided were incredible. The Dutch bikes we hired sadly didn’t have much braking power which was slightly unnerving. Menu for room service is rather limited but the chips ordered were possibly the best I’d ever eaten. Ordered again for lunch in the restaurant and equally delicious. Shame some of the rattan chairs are slightly battered in the restaurant. Not much of a spa on site, but the massages we had were excellent. The building and decor are beautiful, and all the team who work there are really friendly and helpful.”
“This trip has been complete perfection from start to finish. The decor is immaculate, the staff are lovely and the surrounding countryside is stunning. We also had a beautiful meal in the restaurant. We stayed in a treehouse and there was ample space and it was so cosy. We are already looking at coming back!”
“Very disappointing. We are locals that like to stop in and bring family and friends for the beautiful view but today might be the last time. The average Americano in town is £3-3.50 so I’m not exactly sure how Callow Hall can justify £5 for an Americano that was served lukewarm at best. Their prices are over inflated and the service is slow. While attempting to pay so we could go home for a hot coffee 3 separate serves passed us and it took more than 3 minutes to be acknowledged while standing at the bar to pay. As beautiful as the view is this does not make up for the service and quality to justify their prices. Save your money and pop into any of the many coffee shops in town for better service, better quality and lower prices. In addition to the over inflated drink prices, we made reservations for a special occasion for a nice meal which also lacked quality for the prices. For a starter we ordered octopus which was massively over cooked, it was like chewing through rubber. The mains were nice but once again not the quality you expect for the prices. Overall very disappointing experiences and I wouldn’t recommend when you can get better quality and service locally.”
“When we found the local pub on our wintry walk closed, we called to ask if Callow did bar snacks and if they allowed dogs...the welcome we received was phenomenal, the service, food, drinks all exceptional and being allowed into a comfortable sitting room with an open fire with our dogs was so lovely. Owing to the fact that the staff seemed to genuinely love dogs, it was one of the best and most unexpectedly reasonable and delicious lunches we've had out in a long time. Well done Callow, this lunch made our January. Thank you”
