New Milton, Hampshire
Above the Forest Floor
Where the treetops meet five-star tranquillity.
There are few places in England where you can fall asleep among the treetops and wake to birdsong drifting through the New Forest canopy — but Chewton Glen's celebrated treehouses make this a quietly extraordinary reality. Perched above the Hampshire woodland on the edge of one of Britain's most beloved national parks, these elevated retreats are the gold standard of the British staycation: genuinely secluded, genuinely special, and finished with the kind of meticulous luxury that has defined Chewton Glen's five-star reputation for decades. From the Treehouse Studio Suite to the grand seclusion of The Yews, each accommodation offers private terraces that feel like a front-row seat to the natural world, without sacrificing a single comfort.
Inside, the design is warm and considered — think tactile textures, clever mezzanine spaces, and windows that frame the forest like living artwork. But the experience extends well beyond your own four walls. Guests have access to Chewton Glen's renowned spa, where a Twilight Spa Evening promises hydrotherapy pools and hushed indulgence long after the day hikers have gone home. Meanwhile, The Kitchen by James Martin and The Dining Room ensure that culinary excellence is never more than a short stroll through the grounds away.
This is the staycation for those who refuse to compromise — couples seeking a genuinely romantic escape, or discerning travellers who know that true luxury lies in privacy, nature, and impeccable service delivered without fuss. Book the treehouse, linger over afternoon tea, and let the New Forest do the rest.

What They Say
“We had an excellent stay at Chewton Glen. We joined the Japanese street food class and had a great time learning to cook okonomiyaki with Jerry. When we checked in the service was great and our room was spacious. The highlight for me was our tasting menu and wine pairing chosen by Natasha. The following morning we had a bracing walk to the beach, well sign posted from the hotel and worth the effort”
“Excellent warm, friendly staff who all went out of their way to ensure you enjoyed your stay at Chewton Glen. Excellent facilities to suit all ages and wishes. Dining in the Kitchen - James Martin associated restaurant - was a little underwhelming and expected something a little more special. Dining in the main dining room at Chewton Glen was enjoyable and in very pleasant surroundings with a nice ambience.”
“A really pleasant stay this hotel. The wine service is excellent, Natasha is very knowledgeable. Holly, lovely young lady in the restaurant doing your service levels absolutely proud and helping with the 5* review. We will definitely come again”
“We visited Chewton Glen today for afternoon tea for my mums bday and we could not fault it! From the moment we arrived the service was impeccable. The food was delicious and the staff could not have been more accommodating. We have visited various other hotels in the area claiming to be 5⭐️and Chewton Glen just wipes the floor with all of them. We were looked after by Isabel who was amazing! Can’t wait to visit again.”
“On this occasion I had a Gin and Tonic Afternoon Tea, and it was faultless from the moment we arrived to when we left. Our waiter Drew, was lovely, professional, polite and helpful. The food and drinks are all delicious and beautifully served. I've been here before and stayed in a beautiful hotel suite and used the wonderful relaxing spar. All staff are wonderful and will do anything to make you feel comfortable and cared for. It's 5 star for a good reason.”
