Manor House Magic, Gloriously Unrushed
Where Roman baths, falcons in flight and the very best of English countryside conspire to make leaving feel faintly unreasonable.
Tucked into 85 acres of rolling Oxfordshire countryside, just a swift escape from London, Estelle Manor is the kind of place that makes you wonder why you ever bothered with a passport. This Grade II-listed landmark house — all 108 rooms of it — blends vintage furnishings with 20th-century pieces in a way that feels curated rather than contrived, set against a backdrop of 3,000 acres of ancient parkland and gardens that seem to belong to another, slower century entirely.
The activities here read like a very well-lived bucket list. Falconry on the estate grounds before a leisurely morning by the outdoor pool. Afternoons surrendered to the Eynsham Baths — a Roman-inspired spa that the property describes, quite rightly, as a place of ritual and indulgence. It is the rare hotel that caters equally well to the spa devotee seeking stillness and the adventure-hungry guest craving something altogether more exhilarating, making it an inspired choice for multi-generational groups where grandparents and grandchildren rarely agree on anything except that they'd like to come back.
Beyond the rooms, Estelle operates as a private members' club with what it calls 'new school values' — a refreshingly unstuffy ethos that prizes warmth and wit over formality. Whether you come as a guest or join as a member and make the estate your hosted home, the effect is the same: you arrive as a visitor and leave feeling, inexplicably, like you belong here.

What They Say
“We had such a good time at Estelle Manor — it was one of those stays that feels special from start to finish. We began with an archery class, which was great fun, and followed it with hot chocolate and s’mores, the perfect cosy touch. Our Walled Garden Suite was absolutely stunning. Spacious, beautifully designed, and incredibly peaceful, it made the whole experience feel even more luxurious. The staff were consistently helpful and warm, always ready to assist without ever feeling intrusive. For dinner, we went to the Asian restaurant, and the food was amazing. The tasting menu my husband chose was well worth it — beautifully presented, full of flavour, and thoughtfully curated. We also spent time at the spa, which is one of the most modern and impressive we’ve experienced in a long time. The facilities are exceptional and add a real sense of calm and indulgence to the stay. Overall, Estelle Manor delivered a memorable, relaxing, and beautifully curated experience. We loved every moment.”
“Estelle Manor is undeniably beautiful. The grounds are stunning, the reception spaces impressive, and the spa is a real highlight. You can see the vision clearly—and the place has huge potential. That said, the service didn’t live up to the price tag. Some staff were professional and welcoming, but others seemed inexperienced and unsure, which was surprising given how much guests are paying. The biggest letdown was check-in and check-out: long waits, poor organisation, and a general sense of disarray that immediately dulled the experience. To make matters worse, I was overcharged—an issue that many Google reviewers have already mentioned. While it was eventually addressed, it’s not something you expect (or want to deal with) at this level. The billing issue seems systematic rather than accidental. Overall, it’s a real shame. Estelle Manor is a beautiful place with all the ingredients to be exceptional, but inconsistent service, disorganised front-of-house operations, and billing issues currently hold it back. With better training and tighter management, it could truly match its setting and ambition.”
“Our stay at Estelle Manor in the UK was absolutely beautiful from start to finish — nothing was amiss. We got there easily from London in about an hour by train, with taxis conveniently waiting outside the station. From the moment we checked in, everything felt seamless. They greeted us with a welcome drink, and we had a lunch reservation in The Living Room, which was the perfect way to settle in before exploring the property. The grounds are stunning — lush greenery, open fields, and even sheep grazing nearby. The spa is truly breathtaking, and the gift shop was such a standout. Everything was carefully curated by the owners, with unique designers and pieces I’d never seen before — not your typical hotel boutique, which made it extra special. Dinner at The Glasshouse was a highlight — genuinely some of the best Indian food I’ve had (which says a lot, especially in the UK). Breakfast the next morning was just as impressive, and the rooms themselves were pure comfort — soft sheets, cozy robes, and every little detail thought through. Overall, Estelle Manor exceeded every expectation. We’re already planning to stay longer next time — and can’t wait to check out their property in Edinburgh too.”
“The rooms are absolutely beautiful and the property itself is stunning. That said, for $$1,000-1,400 a night for the garden view room, you’d expect a level of attentiveness and hospitality to match the setting. The service is just okay. You can tell they prioritize members and familiar faces, which I understand, but it really takes away from the experience if you’re not one of them. This makes me question whether I’d like to come back again later in the year. Communication before our stay was disappointing. They rarely respond to emails or booking requests, so by the time we arrived, most dining and activities were already full. Since the property is isolated, you’re basically limited to their restaurants and experiences. When they don’t follow up, you end up with very little to do and nowhere else to go. It’s a beautiful place to look at, but the service and communication should be much better for the price and reputation they have. 3.8/5 stars”
“There are places you go that provoke such inspiration while also putting every fiber of your body at ease it makes you question if it can even be real. That’s Estelle Manor. With every detail considered no stone went unturned, no light fixture went unnoticed, no corner was dismissed. Every square foot of the vast landscape to the textured bricked walls was considered and cared for. Then there’s the service. The white glove resemblance without the stuffiness or attitude of the gloves. A gardener’s sincere smile greets you upon your morning walk, to the gentleman always pulling out the lady’s chair, or your server asking if you would like the same thing as yesterday. You feel a unique sense of warmth that holds steady. Its more than a getaway, it’s a luxurious core memory of a dream come true. If it’s on your bucket list, treat yourself. It won’t disappoint.”
