Isle of Skye
Skye's Most Soulful Highland Retreat
Where ancient loch shores meet five decades of warm, unhurried hospitality.
Perched on the shoreline of Loch Na Dal, Kinloch Lodge is the kind of place that makes you wonder why you ever holiday abroad. This 17th-century hunting lodge — a white-walled jewel set against the dramatic hills of the Isle of Skye — has been a cherished family home for centuries and a warmly run hotel for five decades. With just 19 rooms, it wears its intimacy as a badge of honour: roaring fires, plush beds, deep bathtubs with loch views, and the kind of Highland hospitality that feels entirely unforced. A near-perfect 9/10 rating suggests we are far from alone in our admiration.
For food lovers, Kinloch Lodge may well be the finest table in the Hebrides. The award-winning kitchen team transforms the island's seasonal larder into something genuinely revelatory — fresh, inventive Skye cooking that earns its destination status. Whether you're lingering over dinner with a dram in hand or exploring the rugged wilderness beyond the grounds, the lodge serves as the ideal base for discovering what the Misty Isle does best.
This is a property for couples seeking soulful escapism, for adventurers who want comfort after a day on the craggy moors, and for anyone who believes that the finest travel experiences are rooted in a sense of place. Kinloch Lodge doesn't merely sit on Skye — it belongs to it, utterly and beautifully.

What They Say
“We stayed at the Kinloch Lodge hotel ten years ago for one night and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. As a result, we recently decided to go back but this time for three nights. We weren't disappointed. The location is wonderful, our room in the South Lodge was spotless, homely & comfortable with views over the loch. Isabella McDonald was a most welcoming host and all of the staff were pleasant & most helpful. Our booking was half board and both the breakfasts & dinners were delicious. Finally, I believe Kinloch Lodge Hotel is an ideal choice for travellers seeking rest, good food, and a serene environment.”
“What an incredible hotel! We had a fantastic stay here, everything about this place is above and beyond, from the food to the service where they were extremely understanding for my wife’s morning sickness. We also loved the fact about how secluded the location was, for some this may not be great if you don’t like driving a lot to the main attractions Skye in the north.”
“Our arrival at this amazing place was full of surprises . We were upgraded to a suite with the most magical view ever, we are thankful for that and the pleasure we had waking up to such a delightful sight every morning will bring us joy for a long time . There is however space for improvement in the service. It felt a bit like “eat drink and leave”. As we asked to be introduced to the vast choice of whiskey displayed in the bar cabinet, the passion and spontaneous pleasure of serving the guest came amiss . Nobody was rude, but rather aloof. The same vibe spread across the dining area . Before having taken a seat at the table, we were asked about choosing between fizzy or plain water. Once more, hurry up !!! The restaurant proudly claims 2 Michelin stars and the price tag attached to it matches the promise. Well, sadly our expectations weren’t met. It felt as if the Michelin awarded chef had left without notice and that the chef given the unexpected responsibility of taking over was doing his best. Our taste buds remained unsolicited. The beauty of the hotel sets the benchmark very high, but the rest didn’t come close to the attention to detail we’re accustomed to when staying at other luxury hotels all over Scotland. At the end it’s people that make difference, the attitude that makes you wish to come back.”
“Truly a magical, beautiful place! Isabella MacDonald is a most gracious and friendly innkeeper supported by an amazing team. Chef Jordan, the food was impeccable! Absolutely delicious and inspired! Rachel, thank you for welcoming us so warmly. The rest of the team - Sam, Tilly, Luke, Mae, Clara, Tina, and Danny - were so very attentive and exceptional. My wife and I could not have been more pleased with every little thing at Kinloch Lodge. We give it our highest recommendation!”
“Unfortunately we didn’t get to stay here but we did come around for drinks and dinner! The ambiance was so cozy and romantic and the food was absolutely delicious. We look forward to coming back in the future to try their Sunday roast!”
