St Peter Port, Guernsey
Where the Harbour Meets Haute Living
A clifftop haven where sea views and sublime flavours conspire to make leaving unthinkable.
Perched dramatically above the sparkling harbour of St Peter Port, La Fregate is the kind of place that makes you wonder why you ever considered leaving these islands. This elegant clifftop townhouse commands sweeping views across the marina and out toward the open sea, offering a front-row seat to one of the Channel Islands' most captivating scenes. Rooms are sleek and thoughtfully appointed, striking a confident balance between contemporary refinement and the quiet romance of island life.
But it is at the table that La Fregate truly earns its reputation. The acclaimed restaurant draws discerning diners from across Guernsey and beyond, serving dishes that honour the finest local produce — think freshly landed seafood and the island's celebrated dairy — with the kind of culinary precision that would hold its own in any world-class city. Breakfast with harbour views, dinner under the stars: every meal here feels like a small occasion.
For couples seeking a restorative escape with genuine style, or food lovers in pursuit of something truly memorable, La Fregate delivers with quiet confidence. Guernsey is already one of the British Isles' best-kept secrets, and this clifftop gem may well be its finest address.

What They Say
“We stayed here for a long weekend Friday until Monday. Room was nice and clean had a lovely view, of the port. Location good, the walk is little steep coming back, its a bit like a maze trying to get back in to garden. Hotel staff all pleasant and helpful, arranged taxi for us. We had room service food was lovey. Ploughman's and the fillet beef salad and oyster for starters. Reasonable prices too”
“Had the Tennerfest lunch menu and 3 courses and was all delicious. Very good and friendly service and a beautiful view looking over the town and also harbour and islands.”
“Absolutely loved my stay here! Amazing view from the room, huge balcony, huge room, clean room and clean washroom, right vibe of the room, comfortable bed and every just perfect. The hotel is about 5 mins walk from city centre. It’s a beautiful hotel and has a very courteous, professional and amazing staff. The food is delicious, you can order small bites anytime from kitchen till 9pm which is great, breakfast/lunch/dinner hours the usual. Everything was just perfect here! CHEERS to the team there!”
“We booked and paid for a deluxe hotel, but ended up with La Frégate, a mediocre mid-range hotel. Rooms without a refrigerator or minibar, an extremely small breakfast (see photo "Breakfast buffet"). No swimming pool, no spa, no wellness... This is OK for a 3-star hotel but very far from 4 or 5 stars.”
“Hotel was nice with old world charm of a grand central staircase. We ate dinner and breakfast there - tasting dinner menu was excellent, breakfast was nice enough but buffet selection was sparse. The restaurant has a panoramic view of the port and out towards the other islands. Room had a beautiful view too but was very VERY dated. Tiny shower with an ok fashioned electric shower. Wood chip wall paper on the ceilings. Wiring running around the skirting and where maintenance had been done the finish and care was extremely poor. Pipes sticking out through the bathroom floor not connected to anything, Bath panels falling off…not what you expect for over £200 a night. My advice would be come for a meal but don’t bother staying.”
