What they say
“Pennyhill Park, famous for rugby players, has a lot to offer travellers and spa visitors. The key delight about Pennyhill park are the staff. Everyone is happy and friendly, and eager to help. Dropping off a cake for an event, the staff immediately asked what time should it be brought out and how many plates, then promptly put it in a fridge until then. Other places would have haggled around cake charges and knife safety. The place can be confusing. I've seen guests wander around with bags trying to find their room and, to be honest, there is possibly logic applied to room names but it's not obvious. Listen to the receptionists when they point out your room location and check that you have it right! Otherwise you'll be another traveler wandering around a quad trying to find a room named after an obscure British location. Sequential numbers may be easier but room names sound more classy, I guess! Food always great, healthy breakfast options and dinners quickly served with quality produce. Again staff always friendly and attentive. Spa and gym extensive and worth the visit. The spa areas are a welcome retreat, the outdoor pool can be a mixed experience depending on British weather. One of my favourite hotels in this area and always a delight to visit due to the friendly staff especially reception.”
“The most magical place! We stayed here between Xmas and NY for 2 nights and it was amazing. 100% a 5* venue! ⭐️ So many hidden beautiful areas of the venue, both in and out, amazing landscape (great for the dog to sprint round) and super peaceful. The staff were sooo lovely, service incredible and the food was amazing! We stayed in a dog friendly suite - amazing. We dined in both the restaurant and Michelin star and were impressed with the food in both. Highly recommended - you won’t be disappointed 🥰👏🌟”
“We booked Pennyhill Park for Christmas because it’s marketed as a five-star luxury experience with “exceptional dining” and a “grand Christmas feast.” Unfortunately, the Christmas dining fell far below that standard, and the complaint handling afterwards was equally disappointing. Christmas Eve: the outdoor buffet was poorly executed: roasted vegetables and wedges were served stone cold, and the outdoor setup was so cold it was difficult to enjoy any of it. 5 course Christmas Day lunch (£275 per person): timings were excessive (2pm seating, first small course not until around 3pm, main at approx. 3:45pm), which took up all of our afternoon. Food quality was not what you’d expect for this price. – Two of us ordered Beef Wellington: the pastry was burnt outside and raw/dense inside, and the pâté had an unpleasant rubbery texture. The dish arrived looking like the components had separated rather than a proper Wellington. – Brussels sprouts were charred black – Roast potatoes were dark and oil-soaked – There was no Yorkshire pudding! – The “traditional turkey” was served as a stuffed breast roll instead of an an actual bird To be fair, the restaurant manager was apologetic and offered an extra dessert to our room, which we appreciated. However, we weren’t contacted afterwards, and raising the issue at checkout felt unnecessarily difficult and defensive. We were offered £50 back per person, which didn’t reflect the standard of the meal given the price. The accommodation and most staff were genuinely lovely, but the Christmas dining experience, the main reason we booked, was a major let-down. I wouldn’t recommend booking the Christmas package based on our experience.”
“Absolutely lovely experience from start to finish – we honestly can’t wait to come back to this fabulous hotel. From the moment we arrived, everything felt relaxed, welcoming, and effortlessly well organised. The staff were genuinely friendly and attentive without ever being overbearing, and nothing was too much trouble. Check-in was smooth, and we were made to feel at home straight away. Our room was spotless, beautifully presented, and incredibly comfortable. The bed was amazing, the room was quiet, and every little detail had clearly been thought about. It was the perfect place to unwind and properly switch off. The facilities were excellent and really added to the overall experience. Everything was clean, well maintained, and easy to enjoy at our own pace. It felt like a real treat and exactly what we needed. The spa was a real highlight out of this world. It set us up perfectly for the night fine dining and drinking. Overall, this hotel exceeded our expectations in every way. It’s rare to find somewhere that gets so many things right, but this place truly does. We left feeling relaxed, refreshed, and already planning our return. Highly recommended to anyone looking for a special, stress-free stay – we’ll definitely be back.”
“Had such an amazing time, only stayed one night in room called Goodwood (which exceeded expectations, stunning) but everything was outstanding! The service we received from Josh during the evening, Barris at dinner and Arethra on check out was so lovely and really made the whole experience great. The facilities in the spa are so wonderful - the rose steam room was by far our favourite but there are so many to try!! Had a gorgeous beef wellington to top it all off :)”
