Reeth, Yorkshire Dales
Swaledale Views From Your Pillow
The Story
Overlooking the green in the pretty village of Reeth, The Burgoyne occupies a handsome Georgian building with views down Swaledale. The restaurant is well-regarded, rooms are individually decorated, and James Herriot country is all around. The hotel recently partnered with local foragers and game keepers to offer seasonal wild food weekends, and the new spring walking packages include guided hikes along the Swale Trail with binoculars for curlew and lapwing spotting. This season also sees the launch of a dark skies astronomy evening, taking advantage of Swaledale's minimal light pollution with telescope sessions led by a local astronomer.
