Brighton, East Sussex
Grand By Name, Grander By Nature
Where the Victorian age meets the endless, shimmering sea.
Few hotels in Britain can claim a setting as theatrical as The Grand Brighton, its imperious white Victorian facade commanding the seafront like a dowager empress surveying her court. Step inside and the nineteenth century embraces you with genuine warmth — soaring ceilings, ornate plasterwork, and corridors that seem to murmur with the whispered histories of generations of guests. This is a hotel that wears its heritage not as a costume, but as a second skin.
The promenade views are, quite simply, transformative. Whether you are watching storm clouds roll across the Channel from the comfort of a sea-facing room or taking a morning coffee as the Brighton shoreline stirs to life below, the connection to the sea feels intimate and cinematic in equal measure. Couples in particular will find the atmosphere irresistibly romantic, the kind of place where a weekend feels like a proper escape rather than a mere change of postcode.
With a consistently impressive 4.6 out of 5 rating from guests, The Grand Brighton delivers on its considerable promise with admirable reliability. It is the definitive base from which to explore one of England's most exhilarating coastal cities — bohemian, brilliant Brighton — while retreating each evening to surroundings of genuine Victorian grandeur. For those who believe a hotel should be a destination in itself, The Grand needs no further introduction.

What They Say
“We stayed at The Grand Brighton over the New Year period for four nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our room was spacious, spotlessly clean, and the bed was very comfortable. The Penhaligon’s toiletries were a lovely touch and smelled divine. We enjoyed drinks in the bar and had a beautiful three-course meal in the hotel’s Cyan restaurant. The location is excellent within easy walking distance of the beach, pier, and a great selection of shops and restaurants. The only downside was that there doesn’t seem to be a way to close the room doors quietly, so we were frequently woken by the sound of banging doors, particularly in the mornings during checkout. Overall, a very enjoyable stay and we would happily return.”
“I recently stayed at this hotel to celebrate my 40th birthday and had a wonderful experience. From the moment we arrived, the staff made me feel very welcome, and the check-in team kindly offered complimentary drinks for my son and me. I was delighted to find a bottle of red wine and a lovely birthday card waiting in the room, which made the celebration extra special. The room was beautiful with a stunning sea view, and I really enjoyed the coffee selection. The breakfast area was excellent, and the lounge was perfect for relaxing with a drink. They truly made my birthday special. All the staff and the concierge team were lovely . I would definitely recommend this hotel and will return for sure. Thank you, the Grand Hotel.”
“Its £10 every room service, plus service charge, bed sheets not laundered properly with stains, too late at 1am to change. Room and view loved, room telephone does not work properly, shower gel adhesive fell of wall at 3am with a bang, you hear traffic easily through doors, look for coffee machine tucked away in cupboard, hotel needs customer umbrellas for rainy days. Saying that enjoyed staying and would definitely stay again.”
“Loved staying at The Grand. Great refurbishment and came with all the trimmings of a luxury stay with wonderful staff. Got a great deal direct through hotel website. Room was right at the back but still lovely and to be expected for the price. The service and breakfast was 5 star. Travelling with my daughter visiting family and her birthday was during our stay and the hotel made a big fuss which was amazing and she will remember forever! Amazing staff giving the whole experience 5 stars and making their guests all feel special - which is rare these days.”
“Just had 2 nights stay at the hotel and was very impressed all round. Very comfortable room with a sea view and a balcony. Very helpful porters were there as we got out of the taxi and took our bags to the room. Very helpful reception staff very tasty breakfast. Cannot fault anything. Everyone was friendly. Will no doubt be back again”
