What they say
“Where do I even begin? I ordered what was supposed to be the best bottle of wine on the list, but the experience was far from stellar. The waiter brought the bottle already opened and slammed it on the table, then asked if we needed wine glasses…..??? After fetching them, he inquired if we wanted to pour it ourselves—no tasting offered and he seemed completely uninformed. Never experienced anything like it anywhere. Perhaps a little training required before working in the restaurant. We ordered steaks, requesting medium rare and medium, but both arrived well done. They were among the worst steaks we've had in a long time. Overall, it was a disastrous evening. It's disappointing that the management seems to lack proper service training, especially for a place that claims to have a AA rosette rating. Sadly, even though we are hotel guests we have cancelled our dinner reservation for tomorrow evening in the hotel, and will eat elsewhere. Let’s hope breakfast is an improvement 😉.”
“Regular customers here, come every NYD, disappointed with quality of staff. Clearly lacking leadership and training. We come here as we expect better than average and therefore happy to pay for premium. £85 for lunch today didn’t feel value for money.”
“The Moat House has a really lovely setting and overall it was an enjoyable experience. The service was a little slower than I expected, but the staff were polite and friendly. A nice place for weddings or conferences if you don’t mind a more relaxed pace.”
“Many many happy memories spent here, lovely location. We were here for my sisters funeral and we could not have picked a better vanue. The food was lovely and plentiful. The staff were really helpful and respectful. Thank you for making our day special.”
“Very sorry but I brought my fiance and my mom here expecting a meal to match the building and the atmosphere of the grounds but I was sorely disappointed. The bread described as treacle and sourdough was just a slice of bread with underwhelming butter. The dinning room was absolutely ice cold and when asked the heating was on we were told yes but all the radiator were off. One of the waitresses took a starter to 3x tables before getting the right one. We ordered chicken and mushroom pie and the chicken in the pie was very poor quality. We also ordered 2x gammon and the egg and peas were cold and the beef dripping was nothing but gravy granules.”
