Edinburgh
Edinburgh's Most Dramatic Hotel
The Story
Edinburgh's most theatrical hotel — a 17th-century mansion dripping with velvet, antiques, and baroque drama. Peacocks strut the gardens, Rhubarb restaurant occupies the original dining room, and Arthur's Seat rises behind. No beige, no minimalism, just glorious excess.

What they say
“Beautiful hotel and restaurant. 5☆ for service. Had dinner at 3 and got a taxi in from Edinburgh. Door staff opened taxi door and took coats . Went into yellow room as we were over 45mins early on valentines. Couple of cocktails that were delicious. All the staff were super lovely. I like how dogs were okay in restaurant and other areas. There was a cat that was a local resident that wasnt an issue to me and my partner (hes not much of a cat person but their always attracted to those people more so sat on him) he sat on us as we had a drink and was as friendly as a cat can be. Food was lovely and they automatically booked us a taxi back to the centre of Edinburgh. Overall really happy with the place. And absolutely gorgeous decor.”
“Afternoon tea. Average sandwiches. Scones ok. Service was ok. Nothing special for price we paid. Service charge added 12.5% without asking if we ok to add . We asked to remove Service charge because we didn't feel Service was good for price we paid. Girls who served us didn't smile. One of the girls always was walking back and forward to clean tables. When we got our jackets guy just give to us and walked away. We spent £144 for afternoon tea and we didn't feel special.”
“Amazing place, interesting history. Service impeccable, staff very professional and friendly. If you are looking for something opulent, luxurious and romantic to celebrate special events then this beautiful hotel is for you”
“Beautiful, historical hotel with fireplace to sit by. Room was nice with a comfortable bed and updated bathroom. Staff was exceptional; they were truly welcoming and were the best part of our stay. Hotel was not within walking distance of the old town but a £10-13 cab ride got you there in about 10 minutes. Restaurant was good but be prepared to dress up a little. We hit a home run when we chose this hotel for our stay. Stay Golden”
“An extraordinary dining experience! This is by far one of the most outstanding places I had dinner! The decorations, the atmosphere, the service, the food, the drinks - just perfect! Even the toilet looks and feel like you're visiting the 18th century. Enjoy!”
