The Torridon in Wester Ross, Loch Torridon — Wilderness Hotel

Wester Ross, Loch Torridon

Where the Highlands Hold You

Loch-side luxury where wilderness becomes your most indulgent amenity.

There are hotels that offer luxury, and then there are places that redefine what it means to truly escape. The Torridon — perched on the ancient shoreline of Loch Torridon in the raw, untamed heart of Wester Ross — belongs firmly in the latter category. Here, the Highlands don't merely provide a backdrop; they are the entire point. With 18 individually designed rooms and suites in the main hotel, plus the irresistible charm of The Stables and the sublime privacy of The Boathouse waterside retreat, the property offers a rare constellation of accommodation options, each one an invitation to slow down and breathe deeply.

This is wilderness living without sacrifice. A complimentary Scottish breakfast arrives with your direct booking, and the Torridon Outdoors programme — kayaking on the loch, fishing beneath skies that seem to go on forever — ensures that the landscape becomes your playground rather than something merely glimpsed through a window. Whether you arrive as a couple seeking romance among the mountain ridges, or as a family hungry for proper Highland adventure, the hotel has an exceptional instinct for knowing exactly what you need.

What lingers long after departure is the quality of the silence, the particular shade of the loch at dusk, and the sense that modernity has been held gracefully at arm's length. The Torridon doesn't shout about its credentials — it doesn't need to. Book direct, let the Highland air do its work, and prepare to wonder why you ever felt the need to travel further.

What They Say

Our quiet winter visit at this hotel exceeded our expectations. The rooms were carefully set with all the 5 star amenities including a welcome gift. The service always had a personal touch and by the end of our stay we got to know many members of staff. The sitting areas offer a log fire place, giving warmth and creating a cosy atmosphere. The whiskey bar was impressive and a shout-out to Duncan at the bar who very attentively and meticulously created drinks based on our preferred flavour profiles alone. I have to wonder if this still holds during summer when they are really busy. However, based on our visit, it is an exceptional 5 star hotel in the Highlands. I have reviewed their fine dining restaurant separately which was also very good. There are a few points they could perfect but nothing worth noting here. With all that, please expect a high end price for the rooms and the food. However, I'm pleased that such a place exists and thrives in a remote location offering the best of hospitality. As a cosy luxury retreat, to get away from a busy city life and go for remote walks with views of the lochs, this hotel ticks all the boxes. I strongly recommend a visit and hope to return myself.

Wonderful hotel. We stayed in the Stables, which are cheaper but not that good. The hotel proper is gorgeous where they lovely Lounge, excellent food and a terrific whisky bar ( and barman!). The scenery is Scottish magnificent and we went for most enjoyable walk around the estate. Thoroughly recommended.

Outstanding! Come if you love history, fine food and natural beauty. Best stay of the NC500. Staff is amazing, amenities are wonderful and total attention to detail. The prefix dinner is exceptional and well paced. Bring a barrel of cash as you will need it but it is well worth it
