Cotswold Serenity, Perfectly Distilled
Where manicured gardens, candlelit dining and pure spa indulgence meet the open English countryside.
Tucked behind a long, tree-lined driveway in the rolling Wiltshire countryside, Whatley Manor announces itself with the quiet confidence of a place that has nothing to prove. Set within 12 acres of manicured gardens on the edge of the Cotswolds, this grown-up country house retreat is the kind of discovery that feels almost too good to share. Whether you arrive for the acclaimed Aquarias Spa — where restorative treatments and hushed relaxation pools conspire to dissolve the working week — or simply to lose yourself in the landscape, the welcome here is immediate and utterly unhurried.
For those who love to eat well, Whatley Manor delivers with rare generosity. The elegant Dining Room offers a refined, occasion-worthy experience, while Grey's tempts with its relaxed small-plates menu — ideal for lingering evenings that drift pleasantly off schedule. After dinner, retreat to the hotel's private cinema for a film and popcorn, or plan the following morning's walk along the nearby Cotswold Way, where the countryside unfolds in exactly the manner you always imagined England should look.
With a guest rating of 4.7 out of 5 and the kind of thoughtful details that quietly elevate every hour of a stay, Whatley Manor earns its place among Britain's finest country house hotels. It is best suited to couples seeking seclusion, spa devotees, and walkers who prefer to return at day's end to something rather more luxurious than a muddy boot room. Book directly for the best rates — and then start counting down the days.

What They Say
“Beautiful building, and grounds The whole building smelt delightful Dinner in the Greys was delicious Service exceptional Room clean and well stocked Only slight negatives would be my partner would have liked a firmer bed pillow and the laid out breakfast looked as if it had been out a while, the fruit was on the turn and the cheese started to go hard. The ordered cooked breakfast was scrumptious.”
“Super afternoon tea served in front of the fire at 1330 on 29 October 2025! The team member who served us was confident , well-trained and very welcoming. The tea was superb! Probably the best we’ve had anywhere we’ve ever travelled! My only suggestion concerns outdoor signage for non-residents which might be described as discreet! However, we eventually found the small button that opened the doors to the courtyard! Fortunately, we were provided with a map so that we could enjoy the gardens on our way back to the car park! Once again, as a birthday gift, the whole experience was superb!”
“Really great service and food in a lovely location. Mid-size hotel in beautiful old classic Cotswold manor house. Nice gardens for a stroll. Very relaxing as is surrounded by farmers fields. Small plates restaurant was v good. Particular shout-out for the service which was friendly and welcoming.”
“We chose Whatley Manor for a special celebration—my furry friend's birthday! From the moment we arrived, the reception staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. We were delighted that they all knew my dog's name and were aware it was his special day. We stayed in a Junior Suite, which was very spacious and comfortable. The room was immaculately clean, and the housekeeping staff were exceptionally attentive and efficient, ensuring our room was tidied up while we were at breakfast. The grounds were absolutely stunning and beautifully maintained by the gardeners. We had both breakfast and dinner at Grey's Brasserie, which was a fantastic bonus as it is dog-friendly. The food was lovely, although we found it to be a little too salty for our taste.”
“I booked an afternoon spa and massage direct with the hotel to go with a friend, the communication was fantastic during the booking process and upon arrival we felt very welcome The facilities were great, I was very fortunate to have a massage with Marilyn, she was so knowledgeable, attentive and managed to work on areas of stress highlighting tension areas which I know are problematic, I would recommend and will visit again but only when Marilyn is available she is an absolute credit to Greenways along with all the other lovely staff.”
